When I try to install the kernel modules I get a bunch of prompts like

/usr/bin/make -C /home/bernhard/development/trunk/output/kernel/2.6.37-5/source O=/home/bernhard/development/trunk/output/kernel/2.6.37-5/build/. modules_install
scripts/kconfig/conf --silentoldconfig Kconfig

Does anybody has an idea how to solve this?!

Hi,
Normally I build the kernel following these steps:

1. Set default configuration for IGEP boards
make ARCH=arm igep00x0_defconfig

2. Build zImage and modules
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=[your cross compiler] zImage modules

3. Install modules to a path (using sudo if I don't have write permissions)
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=[your cross compiler] INSTALL_MOD_PATH=[path to your target rootfs] modules_install

In your case seems you're trying to build a kernel and missed step 1. I guess this is the reason that your kernel prompts.

Hope it helps you.

    Found a WA.

    I am using cmake and when I try to install the modules into the rootfs I got the error as described.
    But when I use a modules directory with write permission I dont need sudo anymore and therefore get no prompt at all.

    	COMMAND
    		cd ${KERNEL_BINARY_DIR}
    		&& export
    			ARCH=${ARCH} CROSS_COMPILE=${CROSS_COMPILE}
    			PATH="${TOOLCHAIN_BIN_DIR}:$ENV{PATH}"
    		&& ${CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM} modules
    		&& mkdir -p ${KERNEL_MODULES_DIR}
    		&& sudo ${CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM} modules_install INSTALL_MOD_PATH=${KERNEL_MODULES_DIR}
    		&& touch ${KERNEL_MODULES_DIR}/.built
