Hi all

Currently we're involved in new project that requires a second alsa board (two stereo inputs / outputs in total), using IGEPv2

Please, what is the best way to achieve this?
I suppose ::) that there are best known codecs that work with IGEPv2 and linux kernel 2.6.37, there is any recomended?

Hi Sergio & Pau,

I suggest you use TLV320AIC3106 like beaglebone Audio.

http://www.ti.com/product/tlv320aic3106

This codec audio can be used directly by the IGEPv2 if you read the codec specs it uses:

Analog supply voltage 2.7 3.3 3.6 V

Digital core supply voltage 1.65 1.8 1.95 V

Digital I/O supply voltage 1.1 1.8 3.6 V

Cheers
Manel

Hi Sergio, I am interested into external audio solution too. Last week, I bought an audio dongle usb with a speaker output and a mic input. The USB device is named Logilink UA0053. My package should arrive this week, so I am going to test it under IGEPv2 and share my conclusions. Best regards

    Thank you Pau!
USB audio dongles work out of the box (if it is supported by kernel) I've some of them working without issues

In reference to my question I need some experienced user who gives me some help to expand IGEPv2 with a second alsa board (I2S codec)
For example ISEE members, do they have some preferred codec/I2S to expand IGEPv2 board with a second alsa audio?

Hi sergio, I don't have any experience with I2S bus yet. If you choose a solution, please keep me updated! Pau

    Hi Pau

Right now I can tell you that I'm reading a lot of I2S info for Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone here:
    http://blog.koalo.de/2013/05/i2s-support-for-raspberry-pi.html
    http://beagleboardtoys.info/index.php?title=BeagleBone_Audio
Even you can find schematics and gerber files

I hope that ISEE ::) can give me similar support. At least suggesting what might be the best supported codec by kernel and by IGEPv2 platform

    Hope to hear from they!
    Sergio
