Hi all,

It all starts at: http://martinezjavier.wordpress.com/2012/09/11/adding-igepv2-rev-c-support-to-mainline-u-boot-and-kernel/. I build u-boot (from git.denx.de/u-boot) and tried to start the IGEPv2 RC6. It showed:

U-Boot SPL 2014.04-rc1-00235-g3290733 (Mar 07 2014 – 12:37:09)
SPL: Please implement spl_start_uboot() for your board
SPL: Direct Linux boot not active!

And nothing more...

After a while, I ran into a patch on u-boot-arm given by: http://git.denx.de/?p=u-boot/u-boot-arm.git;a=commit;h=dd1e8583ee533a349c03ed4d75446898fe8dbac6

I decided to build u-boot-arm and voila, the system did boot and I am able to continue my efforts.

This leaves me with two unanswered questions:
1) Should I use u-boot-arm or u-boot and what is the difference between them, why is there a fork?
2) Is it correct that the IGEPv2 specific source files in the u-boot repository are out of sync with the ones in u-boot-arm?

Hi Freddy,

For all OMAP3 processors ISEE doesn't support u-boot, instead of, it uses the IGEP X-Loader. So for OMAP3 processors the u-boot-arm repository is obsolete and unmaintained. This repository is only for AM335x and OMAP5 based boards.

The issue that you got is a known issue and (since 5 days ago) is solved in u-boot mainline repository.

Hope it helps you.

    Hi Enric,

I know that ISEE (the company) does not support u-boot but there are a few people still updating u-boot so that it works with the IGEPv2. This means that u-boot is 'maintained' because you updated the u-boot-arm repository :-) And to be honest, I am pleased with the fix.

The questions about the differences are solved. I might have and 'older' u-boot version on my harddrive.

    Regards,
    Freddy

    Hi Enric,

Which roofs are you using when experimenting with newer kernels?

You can use Yocto "dora" + meta-igep layer from https://github.com/ebutera/meta-igep.

    Hope it helps you.
