The J960 UART1_RX - /dev/ttyO0 - does not seem to receive data. I did 2 tests:

Test #1
I connected IGEPv2 pins J960-8, J960-9 and J960-6 to a DB9 connector through to a USB on Ubuntu machine
The IGEPv2 UART1 - /dev/ttyO0 - sent data via ls > /dev/ttyO0 and the Ubuntu running picocom received the data. But the reverse did not work. I sent ls > /dev/ttyUSB0 on Ubuntu but nothing was received on IGEPv2 running picocom. In other words, it seems as if pin J960-8 works, but pin J960-9 does not. I tried it on 2 different IGEPv2 boards with the same results.

Test #2
I also tried a serial loopback - connecting pins J960-8 with J960-9 using picocom but it did not work. The loopback on pins J960-2 and J960-3 did work.

I am trying unsuccessfully to link a gps which streams serial data 3.3v TTL to the IGEPv2. I am pretty sure my wiring is ok - I am using MAX3232 chip as an interface.

    Hi,

Did you pass "board.ei485=no" in your kernel cmdline (valid for kernels 2.6.37-x)?

By default UART1 is used for 485, to use UART1 in J960 you should disable this functionality.
